In accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, it is mandatory for all entities, whether natural or legal, who act as data controllers in the handling of personal data in the course of their activities, to abide by the regulations outlined in said law.
As a data controller, your company must comply with the Turkish Data Protection Law (KVKK) by adhering to principles of personal data processing, informing data subjects, implementing security measures, responding to data subject rights, disposing of data as required, registering with the Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA) if necessary and complying with other KVKK regulations.
If data controllers violate the obligations stipulated in the Law, they may face administrative fines ranging from 29.852 TL to 5.971.989 TL along with revaluation rates regulated in the Turkish Penal Code.
